Enhancements for collaborating on projects
-
Hi Fuze Team,
Just curious if there are any planned enhancements to make it easier for multiple contributors to work on a project together.
Ideas include:
-- A feature to save an update (as a new program) vs overwriting an existing program.
-- Functionality to help merge or diff changes
-- Functionality to help manage project images
-- Splitting programs into multiple files / modules for easier editing (looked like someone was working on this track in my forum search)
-- A way to import code out of Fuze into another tool for editing / back-upWe're using a capture card to collaborate (live on screen) but it's like buying a jet fighter to deliver a box vs hiring a moving van.
(Apologies if my forum search missed the definitive thread on this. I didn't find one).
Really enjoy this tool and excited about the continued enhancements to the platform.
Thanks,
-Alien

I want to just address these points as they are all valid in various ways - some more than others.
Part of my job at FUZE is the interoperability between the fuze application and the server, so feedback like this is always useful.
My replies are ideas only and are not "official" nor do they mean they will be implemented in the next or any future patch to either the main application or the server software.
With that in mind, here goes!
@aliendjinn said in Enhancements for collaborating on projects:
-- A feature to save an update (as a new program) vs overwriting an existing program.
-- Functionality to help merge or diff changesThese two are almost the same thing. Something I have been looking at is the ability to version control on the server, so each time you share a project, the previous versions are left intact. Collaboration in my opinion means bigger and better projects and something that I am 100% behind (personally)
-- Functionality to help manage project images
Can you elaborate a little on how this is used / might be useful?
-- Splitting programs into multiple files / modules for easier editing (looked like someone was working on this track in my forum search)
That's one for another member of the team I think!

Agreed. Although I think it's more like buying DHL to carry a box from your house to next door :)
Code backups, image backups, and project backups in general are something that has been considered for as long as I can remember but we always have to be mindful that we are currently playing in Nintendo's garden, and we don't want them to take the ball away!
We've had some good progress recently with the ongoing updates to the catalog pages. Hopefully as more people link their projects to their forum user account we will be able to facilitate better use of the website part of FUZE as more of a useful application.

Hi MikeDX,
Appreciate the detailed response. It’s encouraging to hear that these features are being considered.
I would be curious to hear what features others in the community are most interested in?
In terms of image management (my thoughts are that you could potentially tag an image with a game ID and then it would get imported with the new version of the project.
Maybe there are more efficient ways to allow for re-use across projects (or I missed that feature all together).
I can imagine Nintendo is a stickler for rules to ensure community standards, although I was thinking that a mobile Fuze app would be a happy medium (many 1st party games allow that) and then you could potentially edit / copy code from there. Just an idea,
Thanks again for the update!
