Well okay. Sorry most of my discussion for this has been over on the discord.
When I first got a hold of this, the vibe screamed Metroid. Love the intro screen, glad that it came with lots of the setup already done - stuff that I am not good at doing. Title screen, intro, game loop, game over screen, etc. stuff that I am not good at.
So that’s good for me to do what I like in my own little corners and not have to mess with the main structure. I got in some baddies, some basic jumping and shooting, some nice parallax scrolling in the background. I am not displeased with what I got done. Phew! It was nice(?) to be forced to use the map editor. I grew to love it just a little and am excited to use it in a future project.
I feel sad to pass it on now. I have a full ‘what I want this to be’ planned in my head, but realistically I just can not add more. Treat her right, future summer game jam challengers! Vid and code will be posted soon.

Since Waldron couldn't spend much time on this in week 5, he and I did some collaborative development of this this week instead. So we have some cool new graphics, sounds, the different weapons have been implemented, enemies can now be placed in the map editor, and there is the start of a event progression system!
I need to tidy some stuff up tonight, so I will friend share it to @AndyG1985 tomorrow!

I managed to squeeze in my dialogue system from Golf in Space too, so now it should be easier to create story beats!

I felt lucky with this one, as it seemed like the hard work was already done and I just had the fun stuff to do! I had a great time with it and I’m sad to say goodbye..
- Completed the events sequence set out in notes
- Separate weapons pickup
- Enemy collision / hurt animation
- More sound fx
- Hover boots pickup
- Pause screen is now an inventory screen.
(I’m not sure about the “hover boots”. I thought it would be a cool power-up to open up new areas in the Metroid style, but it messes with wall collisions. So unless this can be fixed, it might be best taken out.)

Managed to get some extra bits in including, ground turret, spikes and boss. Also effects for hover boots and jetpack ;).Also gun animation states and rocket launcher jumps plus minor bug fixes ooh and a metroidish bass line and drums.
I had very limited time with this game but ultimately one of my favourites due to the amount of freedom you get from a platform game. Everyone played there part very well, I'l miss working on it but would like to take this further!.
