FUZE 2020 Advent Calendar

@CasualTie5 would love to take credit but this is a Gothon game XD
-
@waldron that's hilarious haha! Will change that asap
-
@CasualTie5 it's alright easy mistake to make XD haha
-
lol, I was partially inspired by @waldron 's Rocket Home game. (3TL73MND5U) I thought it would be fun if you got to be the aliens and pilot the flying saucer. Originally I put the saucer in as a flying enemy for a TD game, but the game took on a life of its own after I made it into the player's own sprite.

It's the one and only, Steve! It was kind of heartbreaking to see that basically all of your games were broken by the latest update. The more I appreciate that you got this running again (with the help of pianofire, iirc)!
Steve's games always have a certain charm - and even if a game may not even be polished, I'll always value charm and creativity higher. Not to mention humour! (stuff like "Let's not get sued edition") Fuzeotron is all of the above (charming + creative + polished); and it's great fun! -
Another awesome pick. The game really captures that old arcade magic!

This actually started as a demo (and still is, mostly), but the potential in this game alone made me include it here. It is not intended to be a complete, polished game, but that also means it can feel more exciting in some way.
What that means? Usually, vast 3D environments are not something that we even try to make in FUZE. But the fact that the game (even though it's just two levels - at this point, if I may add) does not limit the space you can move in and still has something going on there, is awesome! It's really fun to move around the 3D areas and dream of the things that might be possible with this tech demo/ game... -
ohh a good one!

@CasualTie5 Sweet, thank you for including my project in this Advent Calendar! I have had fun working on it and continuing to tweak it! Maybe I will land a "complete" version in 2021...
It is VERY cool how well Fuze lets you run with ideas, quite quickly and quite far! Everyone here does excellent work!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

@DaddyJDM I really hope you do that! As I said, there is huge potential for this to be one of Fuze's most exciting games

Certainly haven't forgotten about them Game Jam games (there are just too many awesome ones out there)!
And from the start onwards this entry, just like the others before, feels plain fun - I remember how much Dave enjoyed the name alone when he did the stream :D
Yet perhaps a bit surprisingly, it also has a certain depth to it, for example how you can play around with the game's speed in real time. The reason why it feels so refined might be that it was updated later - which happens rather often, and is a great sign that Game Jams are THE way to create new gameplay ideas! -
Thank you for picking this game :) So far you have been picking really nice projects, and I've been following this with interest. So I'm happy to be included in the list myself as well :)
And I agree, the Game Jams not only giving people inspiration for new game ideas, but also motivate them to bring those ideas into action. It's always nice to see so many new, interesting and sometimes really impressive games arise from that.
In the original Slimy Cravings, I used a linked list to keep track of the slimes. I ran into all sorts of bugs back then, but I worked around them so they wouldn't be noticed in the gameplay. However the Fuze update after that, fixed the underlying bugs, but making it impossible to keep using linked lists in this way (the linked list size would be limited by the recursion limit).
So after the Fuze Update I decided to refactor the game to use a regular array in stead, and while at it, I used the latest version of my template. So that's why it now has the whole menu structure when you start it up. And that's also the reason that I added a "2" to the title :)

Only 7 days to go! Got some awesome stuff for the end (though honestly, all the games on the list so far are awesome), and maybe a few unexpected ones... Kinda excited to share it here!

Some of these I’ve never seen before I’m excited to see the rest

I guess this is one you've seen before @LinkCraft :D Actually, seen several times, as it was part of the Highscore Challenge, and even in one of these reviews that pianofire made a while back.
For a reason! You obviously made a lot of tweaks and stuff to this, because the state the game is in now feels super complete and polished. It is so thoughtfully created, in fact, that the player never feels frustrated by its gameplay (the game does become kinda challenging at some point).
It reminds me of how a good platformer, even though that's a different genre, feels fun to control during the entire playtime. Shining example of how to perfect a simple gameplay concept to the maximum! -
Yay I’m happy you picked my game and yes it is a little different then the version on the showcase but that should be updated soon I’ve talked to Dave about it and I think it will be updated in the next fuze update not 100% sure
I knew I made a good game when I got all that attention. Thanks again for picking my game and I’m excited to see the others I hope you found some real hidden gems.
