Disclaimer: I don't know how to do this, but I'd reccomend creating a 3D plane, and then drawing the track on to it. I believe theres a way to use 3D objects as draw targets?
However if theres a way to make something closer to Mode7 that would be ideal

looking up the making of out run its all drawn so once iv sorted perspective i need to find a way of looping more then 1 animation for the road as im limited to 39 tiles per loop at a size of 128,
iv manage to animate the mode 7 effect just rudimentary shapes atm but will post that soon with another new ip -
@waldron Definitely one I'm not going to be much help on I'm afraid - I've never experimented with the Mode7 style drawing effect myself. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with man!

@Dave i'm just animating the effect of mode 7 rather then actually wrapping an image to a grid which can be manipulated....i think lol

Don't know if this will help.
I was thinking they held the map in an area that could be rotated then take a lot of slices of that rotated map then stacked those slices adjusting for perspective. I can't remember the command for taking a part of an image but I know that it can be stretched or shrunk. I was going to try it when I have enough time. I think it will work as fuze is very fast.
