How to name the sound-generation feature of FUZE

I am struggling a bit about naming things technically correct in posts about the sound-things going on.

As far as I understood by searching for Nintendo specifications, there is no FM synthesizer chip in the Nintendo Switch. Maybe obvious for the hardware experts, but by using the sound functions I just got the feeling of having a real FM synthesizer chip.
So, is it correct to say that FUZE
a) is emulating a FM synthesizer
b) implements a sound engine or
c) implements a synthesizer?
