Twin Stick Shooter 'Fuzeotron'

Greetings fellow fuze fanatics!
Having now got another Switch to replace my defunct one, I thought I'd have a play with something different. a single screen twin stick shooter (like Robotron 2084 but only like 0.00001% as cool)
Here are a couple of early WIP videos.

The idea is to make it a kind of tribute to some of my favourite arcade games with me using a single sprite from each of them per level. It might not pass submission but I figure as its only one sprite per game and not a complete game clone it should be okay.
it isn't going to be huge or have a ton of levels, just something different as I'm sick of damn subs right now. haha
Sprite particle explosions now match the colour of the sprite destroyed, also the player death explosion is much better.
(also have to say thanks to vicinity and waldron for helping me with the 'rotating towards player' code)

This is looking like a lot of fun! I’ll be looking forward to it. I really like your title screen and the scrolling but agree about the lights - I think if it were me I’d draw a black box behind those lights so the text appears from just to the side.

That would be neat but I don't think we have enough different assets like that but I'll have a look.
Edit: just checked and there are 4-5 but tbh some of them just don't appeal to me but I might be able to make them bearable by altering their play speed.
Edit2: what I've done now is give a slight speed randomness to the male sound which makes it change a little and added a female death sound. it is much better and seems a little more gruesome too. lol, thanks for the idea @vinicity

Humans can now be rescued for a nice 1000 point bonus, also the death sounds have been tweaked and Kat has a female sound.
