Any look back on 2020 would be incomplete without The Pandemic©. I know we all just want to forget that this is a thing (or at least as long as Christmas lasts). But today is the day before the Christmas days, so I'd argue we can take one look back.
As you know, we had the Virus Gamejam around May time, which was an attempt to view the whole situation with some humour. Even in darker times, that should always be something to strive for, in my opinion. And the game that I personally enjoyed the most from that Gamejam, happens to be 'Panic Buy'. What's so funny about this one is just how it shows us that we as humans tend to go crazy quite easily. I wanna stress that I don't mean that in an offensive way (and the creator didn't either)! It's just that there are some hilarious habits in human nature, like, you named it, hoarding toilet paper.
With that being said, let's all just agree to wipe 2020 out of existence, and move on to a hopefully better 2021. Lastly, as mentioned earlier, I hope everyone is able to forget that virus for the next few days. -

Merry Christmas everyone!
Christmas Eve, a special day, is upon us. Time really does fly. No matter if you are celebrating Christmas or not, it's THE time for some positivity!
For that occasion, I wanted to highlight a special game. It is not an actual game, to be completely honest, rather a simulation. Furthermore, 'Game of Life' doesn't even originate in FUZE, instead it's an invention of a guy called John Horton Conway (who sadly passed away this year). So what does this have to do with Christmas?
When religious people think of Christmas, they think of hope, of life. Maybe of endurance of humankind. I feel like everyone would value these things, really, but it's never more apparent than during Christmas time. And for me, Game of Life is a celebration of life, hope, and endurance. Sure, on a structural level, it is merely an algorithm that showcases the emergence of structures from a basic pattern. But what we derive from it is what matters! If you are reading this, consider giving this game a go today.
All you need to do is paint a number of boxes in a grid, then start the simulation. You don't need to understand why some blocks get deleted and others don't. Just take a few minutes to try all kinds of setups, and just watch what happens. You might end up developing a deep fascination for the concept of life if you accept the beauty of these structures that seem to come out of nowhere. For me, 'Game of Life' perfectly represents the Christmas spirit. -

Merry Christmas!
After going philosphical yesterday, this time we're going back to praising the awesomeness of FUZE creations. I wanted this to be the ultimate conclusion to this Advent Calendar, so how to make the choice for the last game?
It all comes down to my personal favorite Fuze game of the year. Simply put, 'Wormhole' is just that. Now this is a statement!
For me, 'Wow Factor' is something that makes certain experiences to stick out from others. Frankly, the first time I saw this game in a Game Jam stream, it blew my mind. The technical aspect of this game is something otherwise unseen in Fuze. Those who have already played this, you know exactly what I mean.
So just the appearance of this game is extraordinary. But what's incredible is the fact that Xevdev turned a Game Jam demo program into something truly special. With shooting gameplay and the fact that the player needs to dodge these electrical poles (which is incredibly cool in its own right), it is just perfect now. If it doesn't make it into the Showcase Gallery, I don't know what can.
Obviously, everyone has their own preferences in terms of favorite games. But I think we can all appreciate the achievement that this game is.And that's it for my Advent Calendar 2020! It was unbelievably cool to look back on all of these games. Now all that is left to say is: Enjoy the holidays as much as you can, with your family or the people you love!
-
Good Choice! Well they all were really
-
Absolutely wonderful list! Hopefully this becomes a tradition of some sort.
-
Thank you so much, @CasualTie5, for putting this advent calendar together. You did a great job, and picked some amazing games. It was a fun look back on the year, and a great reminder to revisit some old favorites (and some new discoveries).
I will miss expectantly logging into the forum every day to see what today’s pick was. I really hope this will become an annual tradition from now on!
Merry Christmas!
-
I loved this, each day I was eager to see what was picked and I played some games that otherwise I would have missed.

And probably a bunch more I didn't even mention.
That includes everyone that played around with Fuze for a few hours, but didn't yet find the motivation to go all out on a major project. It is absolutely normal to be overwhelmed with a text-based programming language! Only advice I can give is start small, and work your way up.
Shout-out also to all of these people that make interpretors of different languages and other advanced stuff. You're doing positively crazy work, keep it up!Thanks so much to all of you for being an awesome community!
And thank you in particular to the small but special Fuze Team!
Jon,
Dave,
Kat,
Martin,
Ben,
Will,
pianofire,
and with 100% certainty someone I forgot to mention; Sorry :DLast but not least I want to highlight Dave as the 'Face of Fuze'
Whether in tutorial videos or Game Jam streams: You're obviously doing the best you can to encourage people to achieve something in Fuze. What I admire the most is your dedication to every single game in any Game Jam stream. No matter if a game is unfinished, short or absolutely mind-blowing, you treat it with respect for being an achievement that one person put hours of work into. That is what I am most thankful for when it comes to FUZE in 2020.
Now to a successful 2021! I'm pretty sure we don't need to be quarantined in order to make games!
-
I’ve also really enjoyed this - a few games I never knew existed, and a few others I’d meant to try out and hadn’t. Thanks CasualTie5 for putting the work in, and of course to everyone else!
-
Impressive number of games and creators! Congratulations on your hard work Fuze game creators!
-
Wow. Thank you for including my game. I do hope to finish this when my day job gives me some time. I've enjoyed your advent calendar to see all the awesome games people are creating. Makes me wish i was 13 again and had this wonderful fuse arena to find others who were just as keen as me to make games.
And I bet next year is even better. -
Thanks @CasualTie5 for doing this!
I enjoyed seeing so many interesting games that have been created this year. In my opinion, there is definitely a lot of showcase gallery material among them..
And it's nice to be reminded that there are many talented, creative and awesome people in this community as well, so I look forward to see what 2021 will bring :-)
-
Wow dude. This is such a lovely and moving post. Thank you @CasualTie5 for those incredibly kind words... I won't lie you definitely got me a bit teary there! That is exactly how I feel about each project people make in the Gamejams. Just grateful that people want to spend their time making something with Fuze, and hang out with us!
Our community amazes me non-stop.

I wish we had a a calendar this year as well. @CasualTie5 did an amazing job last year…
