Tystnaden Music Tools
-
Hi everyone!
Lately I have been working on a new project and I finally have something I can share with you. I have always struggled with how to make nice sounding music, and Fuze’s support for music creation has been a bit lacking. Therefore I have now made my own tool for creating music in Fuze.
I have tried to make it easy to use and also to make it easy to use one’s own compositions as game soundtracks. I am however very much a newbie when it comes to music, so there might be some things that could be improved. One of the best things with these tools are that they are very beginner friendly, and there are several functions that will allow you to write harmonious sounding music without having to understand almost any music theory.
Any feedback is appreciated, and I intend to keep improving the project going forward.
The documentation and examples are found within the source code, but I have also created a useful PDF file to have as reference.
I will also keep writing songs, and post them in a separate thread. I hope you will join me with your own compositions!

@vinicity Thanks for sharing your program! I just quickly read the pdf, I think it has everything you need! I'll take a closer look at it later, when it's time for me, but I'm sure it will help me a lot ;)

Quick tip:
You do not need to just use the predefined rhythms, you can easily define your own on the fly. Here is me trying to do the “funky drummer” loop by doing that:

Quick tip:
Save the key (tonic and mode) and the BPM in variables, and then use those when calling for instance createPattern() or getChords(). That way you can easily play around with them and see what best suits your particular song: -
So nice! Going to dig into this... :)

This looks awesome! I will definitely check this out and play with it :)

@gameboy Thanks! Let me know if you have any questions.
I can’t wait to hear what you people manage to create with this!

There is a new version of Tystnaden Music Tools out. The big difference is that you can now use samples as well as the FM synth sounds. All the new drum kit samples has been added to the project as well, and they sound great!
If using samples, one needs to set aside a few channels for them, and this is done by the new function setNumberOfSampleChannels().
The PDF is not yet updated, but all changes should be documented in the source code.New download ID: MR173MND5C.
