FUZE Player Update - Important Information!
-
79p XD that's a steal , just hope it gets the coverage on the eShop when released around the Christmas holidays would be perfect possibly
-
A real shame about that. Yes 79p is a steal (but then so is Fuze's full price) However a lot of people these days whine and moan about spending even 79p so I fear even that small price will vastly reduce the amount of people who'll get the player and that is a huge shame indeed.
-
Oh dear! Well I’ve got mixed feelings - definitely agree with Steve, I think it will greatly reduce the number of people giving it a look, which is a real shame, but I’m also glad to see it’s underway.
-
I think most would see it as no real problem. I can imagine on your end it is very frustrating. Clearly the aim of FUZE4 is to inspire children to get into coding. Having a pay wall might prevent some children getting access to this software. I totally don't blame parents for hiding their credit/debit cards from their children when it comes to digital media. I just hope it reaches as many people as possible. This software deserves that.
-
I guess the counter argument is that when people have no problem spending money on useless stuff like skins, 79p shouldn’t be an issue.
A shame, but we’ll see
-
Someone said something on the Discord so I had to check it out and it's right.
I downloaded RPG Maker MV Player which is free, if lets you browse the games, download one and play it and there are no in game purchases or anything like that.
So how come they can do it but Fuze cannot? -
I don't know i saw that too.
-
@SteveZX81 Not Sure I saw that too.
-
I’m interested to see how the player turns out and what it does. I’m also interested in this “...very interesting ideas for the future of the F4NS product.”
-
Also when’s it coming out and what are you going to do with the money?
-
Hi, just a bit of extra clarity and an explanation from a business perspective.
There's more than one kind of free!
The idea behind the FUZE Player was to gain as much exposure for FUZE as possible. If you search for games on the Switch, you start with around 5,000 titles to choose from. At that level FUZE is a teeny tiny little fish in the Earth's combined oceans!
Search for games with a demo version then you'll reduce the number to around 550-600 or so. Ok so now still a teeny tiny little fish but still in an ocean albeit more comparable to the Artic.
Search for 'Free' and you'll end up with around 60 to choose from - now that would make us a teeny tiny little fish in a small puddle by comparison.
So the FUZE Player was targeting the small puddle to make sure it has the best chance of standing out. The problem with this however is as follows:
Special approval has to be granted for free and if there are no 'in app purchases' then it will not qualify and that is that! It has to be a F2P (free to play but with in app purchases) to qualify. RPG Maker MV Player is a qualified F2P app.
Now, we could spend another six or so months making it more of an F2P app, and this is bigger than it sounds, plus it has to be resubmitted as a new 'game' so will take a month or two longer to end up on the eShop.
We have taken the decision therefore to take what is an already approved release and push it out at the lowest possible price. For now this means we will be a teeny tiny fish in a reasonable sized lake.
We will then also work on a F2P version of FUZE for release at a later date so we can get back to the fish in a puddle goal!
As to what we'll do with the huge amounts of cash we will generate from the sales of the FUZE Player...
It's likely that once our selling fees and VAT etc. have been removed we'll end up with around £0.40 pence per unit.
Currently FUZE Technologies loses money every month - this is mainly down to the fact we're not able to run our coding workshops due to Covid-19 but also because F4NS hasn't achieved the exposure it needs to significantly increase sales and that is simply because we are not generating a profit. Hence the FUZE Player in the first place.
So, once we get ourselves into a self-sustaining position, our profits for the foreseeable future will be invested directly into further developing F4NS, and then Xbox, Windows and PlayStation versions (and others too), and at all times acquiring and creating as much high quality gaming assets as we can.
If, and this is the outcome we'd all love to see, the FUZE Player sells millions of units, or even a few hundred thousand for that matter, we will find a way to remunerate those who allowed us to include their projects in its release, but first, we need to have recovered to a stable, self-sustainable and profitable position.
I hope this all makes sense and answers a few of the posed questions.

If it’s not too late, may I suggest pricing it with a mind for periodic discounts. You’ll never end up on dekudeals otherwise!

As a Fuze "supporter" what we can do ? I need to get in touch with some of my old teachers. I plane to talk about Fuze to them. They knew me when I was 13 and I just discovered Turbo Pascal at this time. Now I'm 35 yo and I was an Android Developper in Paris, I stopped for various reason a few month ago. Believe it or not, when I tried Turbo Pascal on my computer I had a "mindbowing moment". I wish to convince them to create some courses using Fuze or talk about it in their circles. Sure the Covid-19 did not help at all :/
I wish you the best! -
I wish there was some way I could help. @Jonboy get some Fuze mechandise on the site mate and let us throw a bit of money at you for mugs, tshirts etc?
-
Getting it on high discount sale as much as you are allowed to and getting pushed into the best sellers list is something that appears to work. From an outsiders perspective I mean, I'm not claiming any knowledge about its viability.
