Single Screen Platformer: Ninja Gal

Download Key: U8B73M5M21It's a single screen platformer where the gimmick is that the code also fits on a single screen, in docked mode at default zoom. Well, it will fit eventually. Right now, it's still blown up by the level name list and odd bits of debug code. But anyway, the feature set is going to be limited :) I've got one line left, maybe a timer for them speedrunners is possible.
It goes for the Super Meat Boy gameplay style. It has wall sliding and wall jumps, coyote time, moderate air control, deadly obstacles (the easiest thing) and two kinds of moving circular saw blades (the hardest thing). And yeah, it's THAT kind of game. Expect lots of deaths. The few levels that are in it right now get hard really suddenly. I expect to be building more easy going middle ground going forward.
Jump with A or B, move with the left stick or directional pad, skip or repeat levels with R and L.
Because I can't draw and am also lazy, I'm declaring the art style "Pixel Punk" and leave it at that.

Reminds me of Bruce Lee - love it.

Super cool! The art style is great!
-
ohh very cool! I have to try it.

A death counter would be a great addition! I died so many times on the last level!
But… Finally I did it!
-
Nice! I've just completed it as I write this as well.
Fun game! :)Edit: I've discovered a cheat code, but I won't tell ;-)

Hah, I played that once or twiceas a kid on a friend's C64, or maybe just watched them play. The only thing I remember is that there were these moving chains or escalators and if you kicked enemies into them, their bodies would still be pulled up by the things. That.. was quite hilarious to us.
@vinicity A death counter seems possible right now, I'll just need to make sure I leave a consistent place to display it.

Incredibly well done.

I pushed an update, mostly more levels of intermediate difficulty. My daughter (age 10) made a bunch of them, those with the exit arrow instead of the door. And the one that's a bit different, you'll probably recognize by that description it when you see it :)
I think it's about the right length now, any longer and it would need additional game elements to mix things up, and I'd have to take out something to make that possible... The sawblades that chase you take up one line, I'm not too hot for them. What also fits on one line are map areas that push you around, those could be used for conveyor belts and fans. Hmm...I also replaced the smooth stock font for in-level text with a custom pixel font for a more consistent look.
A death count and timer are in. Their screen position is not final, right now, I also want to display the level name so you can tell me which levels are annoying or boring and should be cut. Sadly, there is not enough code space to use the pixel font for that.
Same share code, pending right now.

And it's live again (presumably has been for a while, the Switch was blocked).

Great update! The game is both fun and frustrating, but mostly in a good way.
