This has been discussed many times in the forum but the main issue are the restrictions that Nintendo put on us with regard to the sort of content that can be loaded on to the Switch. If you could open a network connection you could download anything you wanted. Sorry!

@pianofire OK So it is on nintendo.I think that is the reason why people Jailbreak their consoles.Nintendo does good work but i am a friend of no limit in point of coding but yes oke.Maybe you could add more stuff where you can read out system infos like cpu temperature.

When it comes to that kind of thing Nintendo are ultra paranoid about the Switch being hacked (although it already was, long ago) so it'll never happen. They seem to live in the dark ages when it comes to some things.

@petermeisenstein If you go to Settings -> Preferences -> "Show FPS + Memory Meter when Running Programs" and set it to "Yes" there is a CPU/GPU monitor as part of this that shows when a program is running.

It's also not just about whether Nintendo or anyone else is paranoid, or any other feeling. We are not able to discuss specifics, it's just not allowed but at the end of the day there are a set amount of things that you can do, are allowed to do and are given the tools to do. It doesn't matter if anyone likes that or would prefer a completely open ecosystem, that's just the way things are.

Also would just like to point out this paragraph from the post on the rules and etiquette of the forum: https://fuzearena.com/forum/topic/24/community-approval-process

                    Most notably:

With Fuze4NS we are naturally working with Nintendo to bring you the application and it's
content. We will not permit anything that endangers or breaches that relationship in any way.
You must accept that there are times when we simply cannot answer a question or reveal everything

You can have whatever opinion you wish, and you can ask for whatever you wish, BUT, we have also stated in the forum rules, that we cannot and will not always go into details about what we can and cannot do, or why. We are under strict NDA (non disclosure agreement) in this area. I'm sorry.

Just to add to this "You can say what you want" - This is true, you can say whatever you want, but FUZE is under no contract to give you such a platform to do so.

                                        Something last edited by MikeDX

I don't know, it seems like the moment Nintendo release a console there's a video of someone hacking it. It wouldn't be a problem if it didn't lead to piracy. But it does, every time.

Programs like Fuze offer basically everything you need to make Homebrew so there's no real reason to do anything beyond. Sure it would be cool to build a game in a game engine like Unreal and run it on the Switch, but realistically there's no way it could work without opening the system to all kinds of hacks, attacks and viruses and stuff. Which would ruin it for the vast majority of players.

Publishers have a responsibility to Nintendo not to allow hacks. Nintendo have a responsibility to the publishers not to allow their (expensive to make) games to get pirated and also a responsibility to the customers to keep an ordered, safe and quality controlled system.

Allowing programs like Fuze is a pretty huge concession from Nintendo. Quite a fair deal if you ask me.

You can of course write programs for the Switch in engines such as Unity, and I'm sure many more (I don't claim to know them all). That isn't at all the issue here.

I'm going to lock this thread for a while now because it's just getting very off-topic now.
