Can commiunity shares be updated?
-
@Zypher First download the new patch (0.2.14). Then share a project as normal. Go to the Friends Section and press R to go to "My Shared Programs". Then select the program and click Submit. If it is approved then other people can download it using the code. In the Programs section press Y and enter the code

Oh that's so simple and awesome @pianofire thanks so much

So you can update projects and keep the same code
But does everyone need to retype the code to get the edited version or does it update automatically -

@Martin Detail question about updating with SAME code: if the name has changed from "My Game v1.0" to "My Game v2.0",
a) will it automatically replace the old game? Means, the primary key is the code?
b) or can you not control the code during sharing and do you only get the same code, if the game name is the same? -
I wanted to re-submit my project but I just re-shared my project. So, I guess this is not enough to update it. I guess you have to re-share and also re-submit to re-enter the approval process for the updated version?
-
@spikey what game was that? You only have to reshare, you dont have to resubmit programs that have already been submitted because by re-sharing, they go back to "pending"
It is only if you delete or unshare your project that you have to resubmit
if you resubmit an existing live project, that will go back to pending also.

@MikeDX it was FUZEGJ0104. I hope I really just re-shared it (this morning) then. But, glad if you can check if the project got into re-approval, because this was the intention.

You can check the status of any of your projects by going to the friends tab, then R to view your shares

@CasualTie5 That whould be nice for lazy people like me, i think that they can just assign a date code to each upload and then to verify if there is a new version available it can just check the date code of the downloaded copy against the date code from the latest upload, of course updates must not be manadatory for me and should just be a notification somehere, and you can choose to upgrade or not projects which has been modified by you.
-
But what if people don't want to update? They could save a copy I guess but we're also getting into knowing whether someone has made changes to your code or not and so on. There's quite a bit more to think about than whether you just want to push updates to people.
-
@Martin yes that's true, i think you can just send a notification? and have also the ability to enable or disable those? I mean just letting someone know that there is an update and that it can downloaded without overwriting existing versions

Yes, sorry - I didn't read all of your reply :)
