Regarding community run Gamejams
-
@waldron Thanks for the idea
-
What if we did a fuze game jam with NO theme or a game genre and had a little longer to work on it. I personally think we would see more interesting programs. Idk what does everyone think?
-
@LinkCraft We could run one of those "Just finish something" Jams. The only goal is to finish a game. Those typically run the entire year though

Surely a gamejam with no theme or time limit is uh.. not a gamejam?
-
needs a theme ideally but can say a week to complete ??

I'd agree with this! Time limit doesn't have to be 24h or 48h but it for sure needs one. I think the theme is probably less important but it can serve the purpose of helping to ensure that people don't submit games they've already been working on for months (although we can tell this server-side when the game is submitted).
-
May I nominate the theme, "distance"?
-
Theme suggestions are great, but the problem with a community run Game Jam is going to be, who decides which one it will be? It has to be someone that is either not participating or you can guarantee does not already have a WIP of that theme.
-
Ah, I agree. I suppose there could be a vote?
-
@Martin maybe we could use a randam generator to decide the topic
-
Tell you what - I'll volunteer to not participate and pick the topic from a list of ones submitted. How does that sound?
-
Nope Martin, if we have one then you're entering it. My wife said so and she's always right.
