FUZE 2020 Advent Calendar

Another great pick! Love that game!
-
Just caught up on the games I hadn’t played before. Rox in particular is lovely - I remember seeing it posted as a WIP but I didn’t know it had been finished. I haven’t played the game it seems to be based on, but it reminds me of the old Windows game Chips Challenge. I’d never seen Bird Catchers before but that’s a nice idea and a lot of fun!

Possibly the exact opposite of a 'surprising pick' (and on the same day as that High Score Challenge, what a coincidence 👀). Basically Snake but cooler (no disrespect to the original Snake haha)! I'm starting to repeat myself here, but this is another one that feels super polished. The colors, the animations, the fact that you don't die when you touch the snake's tail (I'll correct myself, more disrespect to the original Snake please). Gotta complete that buzzword checklist: yes, this is a gamejam entry as well.
Another thing I kinda want to mention: When I started making a list of my favorite FUZE projects, I was trying to stick to a rule of only including one game per user. That led to some near heartbreaking exclusion of projects - long story short, I couldn't do it!
So this is one of a few instances where I'll pick a second game from the same creator. The quantity (and quality, needless to say) of just cool stuff you create in Fuze is unprecedented, Jens Wall/ Tystnaden/ vinicity/ [or whatever name you come up with next 😜]. Keep it up! -
Thanks for picking my game and for the extremely kind words!
I’m very happy that people seem to enjoy it. There has been some absolutely crazy scores posted the last few days...

This game is a lot of fun and looks incredible! When I first saw this on the game jam it blew my mind!

If "Subs" by Steve and "Bird Catchers" by Keliot had a baby - that was the first thing I thought playing this game. To be clear, that is not to downplay the identity of this game! Just shows that some gameplay concepts do really work, and one of these is executed here in a particularly clever way. Furthermore, the graphical style, precisely the art style of its elements like the whale and the ships match quite well in my opinion!

Thanks for including my game in the calendar!

It was good to get this reminder because I missed the high score challenge and meant to have a look. It’s great! Good concept, and very polished, especially for a first game, which I think it was?

Yet another Gothon GameJam Creation©. It's awesome to see that kind of 2D-3D, I assume it requires quite the programming skills (reminds me of some of these "3D" SNES games).
I love the innovative way this is controlled, it's absolutely unique! And seeing random generation as applied here is always awe-inspiring in my opinion. -
@CasualTie5 would love to take credit but this is a Gothon game XD
-
@waldron that's hilarious haha! Will change that asap
-
@CasualTie5 it's alright easy mistake to make XD haha
-
lol, I was partially inspired by @waldron 's Rocket Home game. (3TL73MND5U) I thought it would be fun if you got to be the aliens and pilot the flying saucer. Originally I put the saucer in as a flying enemy for a TD game, but the game took on a life of its own after I made it into the player's own sprite.

It's the one and only, Steve! It was kind of heartbreaking to see that basically all of your games were broken by the latest update. The more I appreciate that you got this running again (with the help of pianofire, iirc)!
Steve's games always have a certain charm - and even if a game may not even be polished, I'll always value charm and creativity higher. Not to mention humour! (stuff like "Let's not get sued edition") Fuzeotron is all of the above (charming + creative + polished); and it's great fun! -
Another awesome pick. The game really captures that old arcade magic!

This actually started as a demo (and still is, mostly), but the potential in this game alone made me include it here. It is not intended to be a complete, polished game, but that also means it can feel more exciting in some way.
What that means? Usually, vast 3D environments are not something that we even try to make in FUZE. But the fact that the game (even though it's just two levels - at this point, if I may add) does not limit the space you can move in and still has something going on there, is awesome! It's really fun to move around the 3D areas and dream of the things that might be possible with this tech demo/ game... -
ohh a good one!
-
@CasualTie5 Sweet, thank you for including my project in this Advent Calendar! I have had fun working on it and continuing to tweak it! Maybe I will land a "complete" version in 2021...
It is VERY cool how well Fuze lets you run with ideas, quite quickly and quite far! Everyone here does excellent work!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

@DaddyJDM I really hope you do that! As I said, there is huge potential for this to be one of Fuze's most exciting games
