FUZE Player Release Information Announcement!
-
I do agree that ideally, everything approved for public share should be accessible through the player. That’s not the way it works at the moment though..
-
i imagine that there's a lot of forces at play, what we want, what Fuse wants and what Nintendo wants with a bucket of compromises. If we could get a player with separate functions/ 3 tab menu of Explore Fuze / Approved Games / Works in progress Games it would be easier to navigate but in the here and now im happy they got it released and we have a good selection of games to play as well as others

That basic sentiment is alright, being glad that it was in fact released is a giant step in the right direction... Nintendo themselves should already NOT be in this equation whatsoever after the point of Fuze BEING a program in it's library, Nintendo's involvement should end THERE. What Fuze WANTS is undoubtedly important because they are level-headed and logical, I TRUST their decisions.. I simply feel that it would be a logical next step to provide a way... because let's be honest.. the name of the software is FUZE PLAYER... it's not FUZE APPROVED GALLERY GAME PLAYER.. MOST people who don't have the language are going to spend the .99 cents EXPECTING LOGICALLY that they will be able to jump in and test their best friend's own games / software right away because it's just FUZE PLAYER.. and that's simply where most logical minds will go to.... so please.. let's either rename it if it's ONLY going to showcase games.. so that it's not misleading.. or announce an actual effort to allow and it's quite simple. a download code just like SMM2 or Animal Crossing's Dodo codes.. maybe the friend who has Fuze4 can email or text their code privately to their friend with the Fuze Player.. if they wish not to make their W.I.P. public.? Some thoughts? (also I hold NO animosity in ANY way towards the devs here, I am ONLY stating that intentions for this player should be made clear and if it IS only to support their choices in the gallery, then appropriately rename the player to reflect that). it leaves a good bit up to interpretation right now and anyone would be within their logical rights to assume they COULD simply play anybody's Fuze4 programs.

Footnote : This is the ONLY reason I have yet to do anything past my initial w.i.p. at this point because I am waiting to see if THIS very thing comes true, otherwise I cannot MAKE Fuze put my software up in the gallery and I am not going to assume it is good enough to be showcased by their standards, that's THEIR right. I just want to know that I can tell a friend to get the player and be able to help me playtest.. at THAT point I will come out of the woodwork and actually begin working on my brainchildren

So...
- Stop using so many caps all over the place, there's just no need.
- As we've said plenty of times before, "We can't, and won't go into details on the business decisions that are made"
- "let's rename the player". Umm, no. Fuze Player is Fuze Player. Never mind the fact that renaming something really isn't easy even if the team wanted to. (Spoiler alert: they don't, they chose the name after all).
- Nintendo will always be in the equation for Nintendo releases, and every patch thereafter, like it or not, but I refer you back to point 2.
- I'm not sure that people are going to expect to be able to play their friends games. Does it say so anywhere?
- As far as I'm aware the "intentions for the player" have always been crystal clear and as far as I'm aware, continue to be. The only thing that we all know by now and has been relayed in a forum post somewhere I'm sure is that Fuze ideally wanted the player to be free but were not permitted to release it that way.
- You cannot do what you ask. Sorry.
Having said all that, for what it's worth (and this is 100% my personal opinion now, not an opinion as a member of team fuze), I agree, download codes is an omission as far as I'm concerned. I honestly don't remember why they are not in there and I'm not privy to the thought processes behind the design decisions that are made, or whether those decisions are influenced by anything in particular or any external sources.

I assumed the logic was that if download codes were allowed, then Nintendo would have no say in the games people are playing on their system. We know how paranoid Nintendo are, to the point of not even allowing voice chat or to search for friends. To be honest I think it’s fair enough. We know the Fuze team would never approve anything offensive or unsuitable for children or a copyright infringement - but Nintendo don’t know that. It is a shame, though.
-
I think (but don't quote me on it) the logic is that if only showcase gallery games are used then we have a greater ability to pull a game should the need arise. But we can pull a share code too so maybe that's not it.
-
okay.. it DOES make sense now that it has been explained that Nintendo doesn't want just anything being played on their system.. I do in fact grasp that fully.. thank you on that. but my one argument for download codes is that it would not be public and only shared between programmer and playtester alone and would not stand to truly be a problem since the playtester would simply take up their issue with the programmer they already actually know, and not feel that Nintendo or the Fuze team has failed them in any way. In this, I do now understand the gallery concept and why it has to be this way for anything published from both Fuze and Nintendo's point of view.

Just need to tell the bigwigs to get to work approving more stuff then. :)

@Ancientspark you may be able to put your profile on your best friends switch so that you may download fuze4ns onto their system. Your friend could then, using your profile on his switch make full use of Fuze4ns including playing and even working on your game.
