I had an idea for a farm / action hybrid where monsters attack at night and you swap your farm equipment for weapons to fight them. The first hurdle is over and let’s see how far I can get! (I’m wondering whether to use sprites for the crops, since the baddies will need to target them - ideally I can continue with the lookup table system.)

ohhhh!! that looks so cool! I'm a total sucker for farming games. (Stardew alone, my played time is in the 100's of hours!)
Very excited for this, please keep us posted and yell if you want any ideas.

Thanks a lot both :D. Stardew is my most-played game after Fuze and Odyssey - not picked it up in ages but I love it. Actually, if my game’s going to be any good it will need a save system, which I’ve tried and failed to do about five times now, even with the help available. So when I have something resembling a game, I’ll try once more, then I might ask if someone can do it for me!

Progress!! I’m so glad I started with the lookup table system - everything seems to be falling nicely into place :)

Looking more and more like a game :D. I was really worried I wouldn’t be able to work out the monster targeting, so I’m really pleased this hurdle is over!

This is astounding, the monsters will be a nice mix to the game play!.

I now have a demo ready! This lets you play one cycle of farming - fighting - shopping, which constitutes one season. The final game will be 5 years of 4 seasons each, with tax to pay at the end of each year, and the challenge is to not die / end up in debtor’s jail like Dizzy! I think it’s a pretty cool mechanic, and I have ideas for more things to add for future seasons. Like more weapons, fences, cattle, collectibles and buried treasure. Now I’ve laid the groundwork it shouldn’t be hard, and I want to get it as good as I can. Any feedback appreciated!

Wowww, probably one of the best games I have ever played in Fuze. I found the first battle a bit difficult though, it took me 3 tries to defeat the demons. I'm looking forward to buy cows and chickens for my farm! Excelent job!!!

First, I love the title page, really nice!
The game is so cool, I was enjoying myself there, harvesting corn, planting wheat and putting down a path and then

                            ..night..

                            Arrgghh! haha

Great demo, I can't wait to see this game grow and grow! ;)

Thanks a lot both of you! The main difficulty for me will be adding a save feature. Also I can’t quite see how fences are going to work, though I have some ideas. Apart from that, it should be plain sailing from here :D

i tried the game and it is really good, the night is a bit hard (maybe i'm just bad at the game) but apart from that it's a 10/10 for me.

@andyg1985 for your fences you could use collidesprites(fences[I], monsters [I],false, true)
And for saving I'v just reshared a more visual version of pianofires persistent data using sprites.

Fantastic, thanks both :D. That’s good feedback - I think I’ll reduce the monsters to 5 for year 1, and I also want to make a radar system if I can.

The trouble with fences is I don’t want to cut the player off. I thought about having them push the player down, meaning they can be jumped over from top to bottom - but it’s fiddly. The easier way would be to have them only register monster collisions. I’ll keep playing round and see what works.

I’ll definitely check out what you’ve shared - I really want to work it out if I can, so thanks for that!

I also tried your farm game and it is awesome! Love the intro graphic and the shop!
