Retro - ASCII - game

I need to see more!!
-
Such a tease! Only a title screen.
But it's very good title screen. -
-
Very nice! Incredibly retro!
-
That looks and sounds brilliant - very professional!

Yep still giggling at that one .
Gotta love unintended consequences -
Finalization phase has started. Old-school help screen ;-)
and I am working on a multiplayer feature, but it will cost me the 1000 line of code idea and I will have to do an exception on only using green as a color, because multiple green smack mans, even if I use different unicode characters, are making the game confusing. -
You could keep this to 1000 line then make the multiplayer and other extra stuff as Smack Man II or Smack Man Vs or some such
-
@Jongjungbu That would be a proper solution, thank you for the idea. I already reduced the priority of 1000 lines, because I am so curious about to see, how the gameplay works with multiplayer. Also, if the gameplay needs major changes, to make it work well for multiplayer, I will consider this for my next game.

Finally, the beta version is finished. I tried to max out the amount of simultaneous players (currently 18), not sure how this works out. To make a good demo video, I need more joy-cons with a drift ;-) I will further increase the controls-help screen and minor adjustments. But this has to wait a bit.

Its done.
- added jingles for new high score, game over, level complete
- cleaned the input interpreter for 18 players
- a help screen, that looks like a how to for a flight simulator š but its just for the joy con split mode
- made everything a bit bigger, to allow comfortable gaming in undocked mode
Hope you enjoy, this homage to the PC retro gaming.
-
Very cool! The jingles are just perfect! (If a bit loud, but I guess that is caused by the sound recording issue you posted about before...)
Will try it with the kids tonight!
-
@vinicity Thanks, I wonder how they react to such a retro style game. And yes, i am still struggling, with recording synth sound. Normal audio files are recorded in the volume, given in the parameter.
-
Very neat! But I think I might have just woken the whole street up :)
-
@Martin ooh no, still? I mean with the video or did you download the game. I put it all to a lower volume.
-
The video - my fault for watching it at 3AM :D

Fixed for FUZE 3.1.0: (pending for approval)
- I had to rename

tofuchsia
- I had to rename my own custom function
drawTextEx()
tocustomDrawTextEx()
because the new FUZE version contains now an amazing function named like this
